What you will be doing:
The Field Service Engineering Manager will manage and lead the Field Service team in all aspects of day-to-day operations. They will also provide for continuous and sustainable improvements, as well as growth through direct management and program development. This position will be responsible for building and improving upon the field service organization’s capabilities and training, working with other internal functional managers to ensure successful project delivery, as well as our existing and prospective customer base.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, implement and drive the execution of service programs designed to increase productivity and improve profitability.
- Develop and manage metrics to track and report the progress of the service organization.
- Provide the service organization’s current- and future-state status reports to the management team.
- Develop and manage the training plans required to ensure resource capability and continued improvement.
- Create a strategic plan to include organizational growth that meets the needs of internal project customers, as well as the current and future customer base.
- Plan and schedule service technicians and engineers across multiple jobs to ensure proper resource allocation based on customer needs and project demands.
- Ensure all functions (commissioning, PM service, warranty jobs, etc.) follow company’s SOPs and that they are all documented, lean, and user friendly.
- Maintain a problem resolution/root cause system to ensure continuous improvement.
- Develop career paths for all service technicians and engineers.
- Monitor project profitability and project cost budgets to ensure all profit goals are achieved.
- Develop an annual budget for the Service organization using Project Volume Estimator from the Sales Department, maintaining expenses within the department budget.
- Initiate and manage part sales and preventative maintenance contracts.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field (preferred), or equivalent work experience.
- 5 Years’ experience in technical services management and account management.
- Work well with a team, as well as self-reliant and independent when necessary.
- Must have experience supervising team members, including sub-contractors, and building and leading effective teams.
- Good interpersonal skills with effective verbal and written communication skills, including presentation delivery.
- Ability to read and interpret piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) and design drawings.
- Familiarity with elements of project management, including documentation, cost control, methodology, scheduling, and profitability.
- Must have demonstrated experience in planning and driving large-scale projects involving significant change management efforts.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project, Access); experience with CRM a plus.
- Ability to travel internationally to customer sites as required, with away-from-home stays of 1 day to 2 weeks.
