    Position Summary:

    The Field Service Engineer delivers support to our internal team and customers by providing site management, process solutions, automation solutions, and troubleshooting services. To be successful in the role, the engineer must understand both process applications and system functionality for both new and existing equipment.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Must have 3-5 years’ experience in service-related functions.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, or another related field, or equivalent experience.
    • Must have a strong working knowledge of software (preferably with PLC programming) and hardware applications, including instrumentation testing and calibration equipment.
    • Knowledge and hands-on experience with the repair and service of process-related machines and products.
    • Prior technical, mechanical, and electrical training. Must be able to read and work with electrical schematics, piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) and other related drawings.
    • A valid driver’s license.
    • Ability to work out of Rochester, NY. (Remote candidate will be considered for someone seasoned and experienced in the food and beverage industry.)
    • Ability to work irregular hours, including overnight, with 30% - 40% travel. Travel may consist of 1 day to 2 weeks at a given time. (Initially, during training period, travel will be as high as 60%.)
    • Prior exposure to clients and vendors in food and beverage, or pharmaceutical industry, strongly preferred.

    Physical Requirements: 

    • Sit, climb, stand, bend, kneel, walk, squat, bend, reach and work in hot or cold temperatures.
    • Light physical effort with frequent lifting or moving of lightweight materials up to 25 lbs.
    • Ability to see and handle small parts and wires of different colors.

    Responsibilities:

    • Establish and maintain a continuous positive relationship with customers, including support and follow-up on customers' concerns and problems
    • Perform troubleshooting and fault-finding services on site, on line, and by phone
    • Perform and execute Factory Acceptance Testing
    • Perform site management, process engineering, mechanical engineering, controls and automation engineering for installation, start-up and commissioning of JCS engineered systems
    • Execute site acceptance testing – partner with customer, manage and/or support startup team for this function
    • Document and maintain written records of services performed on behalf of JCS

    Secondary Responsibilities:

    • Take an active role in the problem-solving process in the following areas:
      • Demand service work for either remote or on-site assistance, including:
        • System operation evaluation
        • Process and instrumentation evaluation, troubleshooting and repair
        • Control system evaluation, troubleshooting and repair
      • Scheduled service work for either remote or on-site assistance, including:
        • Preventative maintenance
        • Customer site and/or process engineering evaluations
    • Take an active role in project support in the following areas:
      • Project site management, installation, start-up and commissioning support
      • Building electrical panels, checkout and testing assistance
      • Process systems installation, calibration, testing and checkout
      • Control systems Installation, calibration, testing and checkout
    • Promote and maintain good business relationships with our customers and vendors
    • Seek out career development opportunities in areas such as:
      • PLC training
      • Instrument training
      • Process training
      • Controls training
    • Seek out continuous improvement opportunities with both internal and external processes
